Auto body & collision repair for Kearny, NJ

Trailers, potholes, tight driveways — one shop for what they leave behind.

Our shop is on Bayview Ave in Greenville, Jersey City, about 8.5 miles from Kearny Town Hall — roughly twenty-five minutes outside rush hour by the Newark-Jersey City Turnpike or the NJ Turnpike. Truck side-swipes, bent rims and driveway scrapes are fixed under one roof, and an undrivable car can be towed in around the clock.

What Kearny drivers bring us most often

Kearny searches do not say "body shop" — they say frame straightening, auto body painting, dent removal, bumper repair and scratch repair, usually with "Kearny" after it. The town is a truck corridor: Truck 1&9 and the Belleville Turnpike put trailers next to cars every day, the Hackensack bridges and Schuyler Avenue carry the potholes, and the two-family driveways in the Manor are tight. So the five jobs below are the ones that arrive from Kearny week after week. Each has a starting price on our side of the river; each is written up the same business day from photos, free, so you can compare it with any quote closer to home before you drive over.

What Kearny drivers ask forOur starting priceTime in the shop
Frame straightening — unibody measured and pulled on the frame bench, camera and radar calibrated afterquoted after measurement, in the insurer's format; calibration $250–$450 per system1–3 weeks
Auto body painting — color mixed in our own room, blended into the next panelbumper from $450 · door or fender from $600 · full panel from $8002–7 days
Dent removal — door dings and shallow dents pushed out, factory paint untouched$150–$250 per ding · $250–$450 up to about three inchessame day to 2 days
Bumper repair — cover repaired and painted rather than replaced wherever the tabs are soundfrom $4502–3 days
Car scratch repair — polished out, touched up or refinished, depending on how deep the fingernail test says it goesmachine polish from $499 · touch-up $599 · full panel from $8001–7 days

A trailer side-swipe on Truck 1&9 usually combines three of these — a scraped door, a dented quarter and a bumper corner — and it is priced as one repair on one estimate, with the blend between panels already on the sheet. A pothole on the Belleville Turnpike is the other Kearny regular: a bent rim straightened for $150–$300 and the suspension checked on the same visit. If the car is not drivable, towing intake runs around the clock and Kearny pickups are routine.

Getting here from Kearny

Two ways over, about the same time.

The shop is on Bayview Ave in Greenville, Jersey City: about 8.5 miles from Kearny Town Hall by the local road or 13 by the Turnpike, and roughly twenty-five minutes either way outside rush hour.

  • Newark-Jersey City Turnpike east across the Hackensack (the local road, not the NJ Turnpike) — about 8.5 miles, 27 minutes
  • NJ Turnpike and the Newark Bay Extension (I-78) to Exit 14A, then Route 440 north — about 13 miles, tolls, around 24 minutes
  • Those times are for light traffic; at rush hour, leave extra room whichever way you come
  • Not drivable? Towing intake runs around the clock, and Kearny pickups are routine

You do not have to make the drive just to get a price: send 4–8 photos and a real estimator replies the same business day, in writing and free. If you would rather show us in person, parking on site is free while the estimate is written.

What Kearny roads do to cars

Trucks on one side, driveways on the other.

South Kearny and the meadows run on freight: warehouses, yards and the truck routes between them. Around Kearny Avenue it is houses, narrow driveways and street parking. The damage we see from Kearny comes from both halves of town.

Sharing a lane with trailers

Truck 1&9 and Route 7 carry trailers all day, and one that drifts a foot leaves a scrape across two or three panels and often takes the mirror. We repair each panel and blend the color along the side so it reads as one finish, then check the mirror's camera or signal and the blind-spot radar in the rear bumper corner.

Pavement that carries freight

Roads that carry loaded trailers break up faster than residential streets, and a pothole edge bends the inner lip of a rim — out of sight behind the tire, felt later as a shake at speed. Bent rims are straightened on a lathe for $150–$300 a wheel and re-balanced, and we check the rest of that corner: the same hit can bend a control arm.

Narrow driveways, street parking

Around Kearny Avenue, cars squeeze down narrow driveways or live on the street: a rear bumper corner meets a fence post on the way out, a door edge meets a wall, a mirror gets clipped by passing traffic. Most bumper covers are repaired, not replaced — from $450, two to three days — and a dent with unbroken paint comes out with paintless dent repair.

Insurance

Your insurer can recommend. You decide.

New Jersey law leaves the choice of repair shop to the vehicle owner — an insurer can suggest one but cannot require it. If you were told a Kearny claim has to go to the insurer's own pick, that is called steering, and the car can still come here.

  • Every major carrier, with the estimate written in the format its adjuster expects
  • Hidden damage found at teardown goes on a supplement that we file and argue — not you
  • Carrier billed directly — you pay the deductible, nothing you did not agree to in writing
  • Truck driver at fault? The truck's insurer pays; we write the estimate for its adjuster the same way

An estimate you can read is one you can check.

Estimates, supplements and calls with the adjuster are handled in English, Spanish or Russian — whichever you use at home. Reading every line yourself is how you make sure you pay only for what you agreed to.

Kearny questions

Asked from the other side of the Hackensack

Towing, the drive over, insurance, timing — and what to do when a truck clips you and keeps going.

Do you tow from Kearny?
Yes. Towing intake runs around the clock, and Kearny pickups are routine — from a driveway or the side of Truck 1&9. Call before anyone else tows it: if the car goes straight to the shop that will fix it, there is no storage bill and no second tow. On a covered claim the tow is normally part of it.
Is it worth coming to Jersey City for an estimate?
Get the number first, then decide. Send 4–8 photos and a real estimator — not a bot — prices the visible damage the same business day, in writing and free. Compare it with any quote closer to home; if ours makes sense, the only trip is the drop-off, about twenty-five minutes outside rush hour.
My insurer sent me a list of shops. Do I have to use one?
No. New Jersey law leaves the choice of repair shop to the vehicle owner, so the list is a suggestion, not a requirement. With any major carrier it runs the same way: the estimate in its format, supplements filed by us, the carrier billed directly — and you pay the deductible.
How long will the car be in Jersey City?
With parts on hand: a paintless dent repair takes from the same day to two days, a bumper two to three days, a panel that needs paint three to seven, and structural work one to three weeks. Parts on backorder and the insurer's sign-off on a supplement are what stretch those numbers — if either one does, we call you and say which.
A truck side-swiped me and kept going. What now?
Photograph the damage and the scene, and file a police report the same day. If the truck or its company is identified, the repair goes on that liability policy and your deductible stays out of it. If not, it usually runs through your own collision coverage, with the deductible. Either way, send us the photos — we write the estimate the adjuster needs.
