Deep gloss finish on a vehicle after ceramic coating cured

Ceramic coating Β· Jersey City, NJ

Polished first, then coated.

A ceramic coating locks in whatever is under it, so every package here starts with paint correction. We apply Ceramic Pro and Nasiol coatings in our shop at 18-24 Bayview Ave: from $899 for a sedan, $999 for an SUV and $1,099 for a truck or van. Just had a panel painted? We tell you when the new paint has fully cured and can be coated.

A ceramic coating is a hard, slick layer over your car's clear coat: more gloss, easier washing, and resistance to chemicals and UV. At Waxman of Tristate Auto Body & Collision Center we apply Ceramic Pro and Nasiol coatings in our shop at 18-24 Bayview Ave in Jersey City. Every package includes paint correction first, because a coating locks in whatever is under it. Prices start from $899 for a sedan, $999 for an SUV and $1,099 for a truck or van.

What a Ceramic Coating Does and What It Does Not

A coating changes how the surface of the paint behaves. It does not change what the paint can survive.

  • Gloss. A slick, reflective layer sits on top of the clear coat.
  • Easier washing. Dirt has less to hold on to, so the car comes clean with less work. It still has to be washed.
  • Chemical and UV resistance. The layer stands between the clear coat and what lands on it.

It is not armor. A coating does not stop stone chips or door dings, and it will not hide a scratch that is already there. For impacts the answer is paint protection film, and the two can be combined: film on the front of the car, a coating over the whole car.

You will not find a number of years on this page. How a coating holds up depends on the product, on how the car is washed and on where it is parked. What the shop stands behind is in its own written terms, and you get them in writing.

Why Paint Correction Comes First

A coating locks in whatever is under it. Coat over wash swirls, haze or light scratches and they are sealed under the gloss, in plain view. So the paint is machine-polished first: the polisher levels the clear coat until shallow defects stop catching the light.

How much polishing depends on the paint. One step deals with light marks; two and three steps take out wash swirls and deeper defects. The number of steps is what sets the level of your package.

Polishing has a limit. Clear coat is thin, and a scratch that catches a fingernail has cut through it: that one needs paint, not polish. We point those out before you pay for a coating over them, and what the fix involves is on our car scratch repair page.

How Much Does Ceramic Coating Cost in Jersey City?

Three packages, each with paint correction included. These are starting prices:

PackageSedanSUVTruck & van
Level 1 ceramic coating + paint correctionfrom $899from $999from $1,099
Level 2 ceramic coating + paint correctionfrom $1,099from $1,299from $1,399
Level 3 ceramic coating + paint correctionfrom $1,299from $1,499from $1,699

The level follows how much correction the paint needs first: one polishing step at Level 1, two at Level 2, three at Level 3. Your written quote gives the level and the price for your car.

Wheels and glass can be coated as well; that is priced with the estimate. A coating does not darken glass. Darker glass is window tinting, which we do at the same shop.

Paint Correction Without the Coating

If you only want the polish, paint correction is available on its own. It takes out swirls and haze; it does not add protection.

Paint correction onlySedanSUVTruck & van
One-stepfrom $499from $599from $699
Two-stepfrom $799from $899from $999
Three-stepfrom $999from $1,199from $1,299

Paint correction alone takes 1–2 days in the shop.

Fresh Paint Has to Cure Before It Is Coated

A coating seals the surface, so it goes on only after new paint has fully cured. How long that takes depends on the repair. If we have just repaired and painted a panel for you, we tell you when that is for your repair, and the coating waits until then. How the color is matched and sprayed is on our auto painting page.

How Long Does Ceramic Coating Take?

For a coating package we do not post one number for every car: the polishing comes first, the coating goes on after it, and the schedule for your car comes with your quote.

How to Get a Ceramic Coating Quote

The quote is free and starts with photos:

  1. Take 4–8 photos in daylight. The whole car from each side, plus close-ups of the hood and a door with the sun on the paint, which is where swirl marks show.
  2. Name the car. Year, make and model tell us which price column applies: sedan, SUV, or truck and van.
  3. Mention recent paint work, and say whether you want the wheels or glass coated too.

Send them through the free photo estimate. A real estimator, not a bot, replies the same business day, in writing, in English, Spanish or Russian. Prefer to talk it through? Call (551) 325-3030. The shop is at 18-24 Bayview Ave in Greenville, minutes off Route 440 and NJ Turnpike Exits 14A and 14B, open every day from 8 am to 8 pm. To pay over time, ask about Affirm or American First Finance when we send the quote; financing is subject to approval and is provided by those lenders, not by Waxman.

Paying for the work yourself β€” a deductible, a repair outside a claim, wheels, film or paint? You can apply to split the bill into payments through Affirm or American First Finance. Ask when we send your estimate and we will walk you through the application.

Paying your deductible over time: what to ask

Financing is subject to approval and is provided by Affirm or American First Finance, not by Waxman; rates and terms depend on the lender and your application. Payment options through Affirm are subject to an eligibility check and are provided by Affirm's lending partners.

Questions we get every week

What people ask before they book β€” answered without the runaround.

Is paint correction really included in the ceramic coating price?
Yes, in every package. A coating locks in whatever is under it, so the paint is machine-polished before it is coated. The level follows how much correction the paint needs: one polishing step at Level 1, two at Level 2, three at Level 3. For a sedan that is from $899, $1,099 and $1,299; for an SUV from $999, $1,299 and $1,499; for a truck or van from $1,099, $1,399 and $1,699.
Will a ceramic coating stop stone chips and door dings?
No. A coating is a hard, slick layer over the clear coat: it adds gloss, makes the car easier to wash and resists chemicals and UV. It is not armor, and it does not stop stone chips or door dings. For impacts the answer is paint protection film, and the two can be combined: film on the front of the car, a coating over the whole car.
My car was just painted. How soon can it be ceramic coated?
Only after the new paint has fully cured. A coating seals the surface, so it does not go over paint that is still curing. How long that takes depends on the repair; if we did the paint work, we tell you when that is for your repair, and the coating waits until then.
How long does a ceramic coating last?
We do not put a number of years on it here. How a coating holds up depends on the product, on how the car is washed and on where it is parked. What the shop stands behind is in its own written terms, which you get in writing; ask for them with your quote.
Can I get paint correction without the ceramic coating?
Yes. Paint correction on its own is from $499 for a sedan, $599 for an SUV and $699 for a truck or van in one step; from $799, $899 and $999 in two steps; and from $999, $1,199 and $1,299 in three. It takes 1–2 days in the shop. Polishing takes out swirls and haze, but it adds no protection.
